THE OTHER PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES

One of the most incredible things which has happened to me as a result of retiring, and receiving testimonials and calls, has been the amazing level of problems, sacrifices, poor health and difficult relationships that people have shared with me. I feel humbled by the positivity and acceptance that friends and colleagues are living with. It’s like the duck apparently swimming serenely on, but its little feet are working overtime, and again, just to keep afloat.

We would be right to ask the question why somebody we meet at work or casually appears remote, rude or aggressive. It may well be because of what they are suffering with, that they are finding it difficult to live at peace with themselves. In the situation with a patient, remember, this may also be that they are paying for the privilege of having treatment which may well have painful repercussions, and because they may have not have been cared for and treated sympathetically by failing to ask a simple question. How were you feeling yourself at that time! Were you in control, accepting and clear minded?
